Caring for Smiles on Singer Island and in Palm Beach Shores
Singer Island takes its name from developer Paris Singer, son of the sewing machine magnate. A grand hotel planned here in the 1920s land boom was never finished, and a Hilton now stands on the site. Most of the island lies within Riviera Beach city limits, with roughly 4.7 miles of beach running from the condos along Ocean Drive to the mangroves and dunes of John D. MacArthur Beach State Park at the north end.
At the southern tip, the Town of Palm Beach Shores keeps its own small-town character. Developer A.O. Edwards began planning it in 1947, and it began operating as a town in 1951. It’s a Tree City USA community, home to Sailfish Marina on the Lake Worth Inlet, and its volunteer Turtle Patrol has watched over nesting season since 1981. The town also holds Florida’s easternmost point.
In between, Ocean Reef Park offers a guarded beach with a beach wheelchair and an accessible mat to the water. Whether you live here year-round or arrive when the weather turns cool up north, we welcome patients from Singer Island and Palm Beach Shores.

Dental Advice for Singer Island Residents
Island visits, boating, and travel make it useful to plan for dental care before a small concern turns urgent.
Before a trip
If a tooth has new sensitivity, a loose crown, or a sore spot that is not improving, arrange an exam before extended travel. Keep your dentist’s number with your travel information.
If a tooth chips
Rinse with warm water and use a cold compress for swelling. Call promptly for advice and an appointment; the right repair depends on the exam.
Protect daily habits
Keep fluoride toothpaste and a way to clean between teeth in your overnight bag. Water is a better frequent drink than sugary or acidic beverages.

Getting From the Island to Northlake Boulevard
Expect roughly 6 to 10 miles by car. The trip typically takes about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic, the time of day, and which end of the island you start from.
From Palm Beach Shores and the middle of the island
Cross the Blue Heron Bridge heading west and continue on Blue Heron Boulevard to I-95. Go north one exit to Northlake Boulevard (Exit 77) and turn left. Our office is on the south side of Northlake, shortly before Military Trail.
From the north end, near MacArthur Beach State Park
Follow A1A north past the park to U.S. 1 at PGA Boulevard. From there, you can head south on U.S. 1 to Northlake Boulevard and turn right (west), or take PGA Boulevard west to I-95 and come south one exit to Northlake.
Once you’re here
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, a list of medications, and any recent X-rays from your dentist up north. We’ll add them to your chart so nothing gets repeated unnecessarily.
Dental Care That Suits Island Living
A knocked-out or broken tooth on the water. Pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root. Rinse it briefly if it’s dirty, then place it back in the socket or keep it in milk, and call us right away. Time matters with a knocked-out tooth.
Porcelain veneers. Thin e.max ceramic veneers can change the shape, length, and shade of front teeth. A digital smile preview lets you see the proposed result before any tooth is prepared.
Whitening before guests arrive. Zoom! in-office whitening brightens teeth in one appointment for many patients, and custom take-home trays let you touch up between visits. Results vary with the type of staining.
Fixed full-arch implant teeth. All-on-X treatment typically uses 4 to 6 implants per arch, often with a same-day temporary arch. It’s an option for suitable candidates who are tired of a loose denture.
Comfort options for nervous patients. Nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation can help suitable patients relax during longer visits. Dr. Rudnick reviews your health history first and explains what to expect.

Questions From Singer Island and Palm Beach Shores Patients
How far is your office from Singer Island? In a straight line, about 4.3 miles. Because you have to cross the Lake Worth Lagoon, the drive is longer: roughly 6 to 10 miles, typically about 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. Most people use the Blue Heron Bridge and I-95; from the north end, U.S. 1 is another option.
Is Singer Island part of Riviera Beach? Mostly, yes. The majority of the island is within Riviera Beach city limits, while the Town of Palm Beach Shores occupies the southern tip. Either way, the route to our Palm Beach Gardens office is similar. See our Riviera Beach page for mainland directions.
I’m only here for the winter. Can I still be a patient? Yes. Some seasonal residents keep a dentist in each place they live. Let us know your arrival and departure dates when you book, and send recent X-rays from your other dentist so we don’t repeat them unnecessarily. If treatment needs more than one visit, we’ll plan the steps around your time here.
What should I do if a tooth gets knocked out while I’m on the boat? Find the tooth and hold it by the crown. If it’s dirty, rinse it briefly without scrubbing. Try to place it back in the socket, or keep it in milk, and call 561-625-1991 right away. If there’s a head injury or heavy bleeding, go to the nearest emergency room first.
Do you accept my insurance? Our team works with many dental insurance plans. We verify your benefits before your visit, file claims for you, and give you a written estimate before treatment. If you have coverage tied to another state, call us with the plan details and we’ll check how it applies here.
