How Invisalign Works
Invisalign uses a series of custom clear aligners to gradually move teeth. Each set is worn according to your treatment plan, with visits to check fit and progress. You remove the aligners for meals and daily cleaning.
Clear aligners need consistent wear and professional monitoring. Dr. Rudnick will explain what Invisalign may help change, what it cannot address, and whether your teeth and gums need other care before treatment.

Is Invisalign Right for You?
Invisalign can address a range of tooth alignment concerns. The right approach depends on the movements needed, the health of your teeth and gums, and whether you can follow the daily wear schedule.
An examination can help determine whether Invisalign may address:
Crowded Teeth: When teeth overlap or compete for space, making brushing and flossing more difficult.
Gaps Between Teeth: Spacing issues that affect appearance, bite balance, or food trapping.
Crooked or Rotated Teeth: Teeth that sit at an angle or twist out of alignment.
Bite Issues: Including overbites, underbites, crossbites, and open bites that affect comfort and wear.
Uneven Tooth Alignment: When teeth don’t line up smoothly, creating an imbalanced smile.
Shifting Teeth: Changes in alignment that occur over time due to age or missing teeth.
Cavities, gum disease, or other active dental problems may need attention first. Missing teeth, existing crowns, and previous treatment also affect planning. If your teeth have shifted after earlier treatment, bring that history to your consultation so we can evaluate your current needs.
At your consultation, Dr. Rudnick will evaluate your teeth and bite, review your goals, and discuss the limitations of clear aligners for your case. If Invisalign is not suitable, he will explain the next steps.
Benefits of Invisalign Clear Aligners
The benefits of Invisalign should match the concerns you want to address. Discuss how treatment may change your smile and what it will require from you each day.
Straighter Teeth and Your Oral Health
Alignment is one part of a healthy smile. Your treatment plan should consider access for cleaning, gum health, and how your teeth meet.
Making Daily Cleaning Easier
When overlapping teeth are better aligned, some areas may be easier to reach with a toothbrush and floss. Invisalign does not prevent cavities on its own. Good home care and professional cleanings remain important.
Supporting Gum Care
Gum health is checked before and during treatment. Active gum disease may need care before moving teeth. We will discuss the cleaning routine and dental visits appropriate for your mouth.
Considering Your Bite
Your plan considers the way your upper and lower teeth meet, as well as their appearance. Tooth wear and jaw discomfort can have several causes and may need separate evaluation. Clear aligners do not guarantee relief from TMJ symptoms.
Your Invisalign Treatment Process
1. Consultation and Digital Scanning
We begin with your goals, an examination of your teeth and gums, and a review of your bite. Digital scans and other appropriate records help Dr. Rudnick evaluate whether Invisalign fits your needs. Existing dental problems may need care first.
2. Your Personalized Treatment Plan
Dr. Rudnick reviews the planned tooth movements, estimated timeline, fees, and any attachments or other steps. A digital simulation helps you understand the plan. Your actual results may differ from the simulation.
3. Receiving and Wearing Your Aligners
Your aligners are made for the approved plan. At the fitting visit, we check how they seat and show you how to insert, remove, and care for them. Follow your prescribed daily wear and aligner change schedule.
4. Progress Checks and Adjustments
Regular visits let us check tooth movement, fit, and your bite. Some plans need additional scans or refinement aligners. Tell the team about persistent discomfort, lost aligners, or a tray that stops fitting.
5. Retainers and Ongoing Care
After active treatment, we review your alignment and discuss retainers. Consistent retainer use and continued dental care help maintain your result. Your plan will include a wear schedule and follow up instructions.

Invisalign Treatment Time and Cost
There is no single timeline or fee that fits every smile. The amount of movement needed, your bite, daily wear, and your response to treatment affect the plan.
Before starting, ask for an estimate that explains the aligners, scheduled visits, any planned refinements, and retainers. Confirm which services are included and which may have an additional cost.
Ask the team to review your insurance details and available payment options. Coverage and eligibility need to be checked for your individual plan.
Treatment may need adjustments along the way. Contact the office if an aligner is lost, damaged, or no longer fits rather than changing the schedule yourself.

Caring for Your Smile During and After Invisalign
Daily Invisalign Care
Your team will give you instructions for wearing and cleaning your aligners. Follow the schedule provided for your case:
- Wear: Invisalign commonly requires 20 to 22 hours of daily wear, including sleep. Follow Dr. Rudnick’s instructions for your plan.
- Meals and hygiene: Remove aligners for eating, drinking anything other than water, brushing, and flossing. Clean your teeth before reinserting them.
- Cleaning and checkups: Clean aligners as instructed, avoid hot water, and keep scheduled visits. Contact the office about persistent discomfort or poor fit.

Retainers and Follow Up
Teeth can shift after active treatment ends. Retainers and follow up are an important part of maintaining the alignment achieved.
Dr. Rudnick will recommend a retainer wear schedule for your needs. Ask how to clean and store it, when to have the fit checked, and what to do if it becomes damaged or feels tight.
Continue brushing, flossing, and routine dental care. Clear aligner treatment does not replace preventive visits or care for gum disease.
Bring questions about changes in your bite, retainer fit, or tooth position to the team. Early review can help identify whether an adjustment is needed.
Why Choose Rudnick Dentistry for Invisalign?
Dr. Andrew Rudnick is an LVI Fellow. At your consultation, he can discuss how tooth alignment, your bite, and your smile goals fit together in a treatment plan.
Meet Dr. Rudnick and bring your questions about appearance, comfort, cost, and daily wear. Our Palm Beach Gardens team will explain the proposed care so you can make an informed decision.
Digital Planning With a Clear Purpose
Digital scans can help record your teeth and plan movements. A simulated smile is a planning tool rather than a promise of a particular result. Additional imaging is recommended only when appropriate for your examination and treatment needs.

Invisalign Questions and Answers
How long does Invisalign take?
Your timeline depends on the movements needed, your bite, and how consistently you wear the aligners. Dr. Rudnick will discuss an estimated schedule after assessing your teeth.
How many hours should I wear my aligners?
Invisalign generally requires 20 to 22 hours of daily wear, including sleep. Follow the schedule your dentist gives you and remove aligners for meals and oral hygiene.
Will I need attachments?
Some plans use small tooth colored attachments to help aligners move teeth. Ask which attachments or other steps are expected for your treatment.
Is Invisalign uncomfortable?
Pressure or soreness can occur, especially when changing aligners. Contact the office about severe or persistent discomfort or an aligner that does not fit.
Will I need retainers afterward?
Retainers help maintain alignment after active treatment. Your dentist will recommend a wear schedule and follow up based on your needs.
Can I eat and drink with my aligners in?
Remove aligners for meals and for drinks other than water. Clean your teeth before putting them back in, and keep the aligners in their case while you eat.
Will Invisalign affect my speech?
You may notice a temporary change in speech as you adjust to wearing aligners. Let the team know if the change persists or the trays feel uncomfortable.
How do I clean my aligners?
Use the cleaning method your dental team recommends. Rinse with cool or lukewarm water and avoid heat, which can distort the plastic. Daily brushing and flossing are still important.
Can I have Invisalign if my teeth shifted after earlier treatment?
Possibly. Dr. Rudnick will examine your current tooth positions, bite, and gum health before recommending a plan. Bring any previous treatment or retainer information to the visit.
“I had a new patient exam along with Invisalign scanning. Dr. Rudnick made professional decisions while I was there to insure I got the best result.”
